The Good Haul and its owner/operator, Brandon Ortega, provide hauling and pickup services as described in good faith and with reasonable care. However, by booking a service, the client acknowledges and agrees to the following:

  • Limitation of Liability: The Good Haul is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of property value, missed appointments, or delays caused by weather, traffic, or third-party vendors.

  • Service Scope: Services are limited to non-hazardous materials and subject to the discretion of The Good Haul. Any services rendered outside the agreed scope may result in additional charges or refusal of service.

  • Assumption of Risk: By allowing The Good Haul on your property or into any area for service, you acknowledge that any access granted is voluntary and that reasonable efforts will be made to prevent property damage. Clients assume the risk of minor scuffing, debris shifts, or wear during the haul.

  • No Legal Advice or Guarantee: The content on our website, promotional materials, or email communication is for general informational purposes only and is not legal, financial, or tax advice.

  • Third-Party Donation Partners: The Good Haul does not guarantee the acceptance of items by donation centers. Final discretion lies with each nonprofit organization.

The Good Haul reserves the right to amend these terms, refuse service, or reschedule appointments as needed to ensure safety, quality, and professionalism.

Privacy Policy - the basics 

At The Good Haul, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect the personal information you provide to us.

When you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Service address (for pickups)

  • Photos (of items to be hauled)

  • Payment method (only if invoiced digitally)

  • Schedule and confirm services

  • Send invoices or receipts

  • Respond to inquiries or service requests

  • Share updates or reminders related to your booking

  • Improve our services and customer experience

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties, ever.

3. Payment Information

If you pay digitally (via Square, Venmo, or Zelle), all payment information is processed through secure third-party platforms. We do not store or access your credit card or banking information directly.

4. Photos & Content

With your permission, we may take before/after photos of hauls for marketing purposes (e.g., social media, testimonials). No identifying information (names, addresses, or faces) will be shared without your explicit consent.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your data. Your information is stored securely and only accessible by The Good Haul team for operational purposes.

6. Your Rights

You may request to:

  • View, update, or delete your information

  • Opt out of any marketing communication at any time

Terms & Conditions

1. 📍 Service Area

We currently serve:
Montecito, Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Hope Ranch.
Pickup requests outside of this service area may be accommodated for an additional travel fee.

2. 🚫 Items We Do Not Haul

For health, safety, and legal reasons, we do not haul:

  • Hazardous waste (e.g. paint, solvents, oils, batteries)

  • Construction or demolition debris (e.g. concrete, drywall, roofing)

  • Mold-infested or biohazardous items

  • Perishable garbage or food waste

  • Yard waste (unless otherwise arranged)

If you're unsure, feel free to send us a photo before booking.

3. 💳 Payments

  • Payment is due upon completion of service, unless otherwise prearranged.

  • Accepted payment methods: Cash, Venmo, Zelle, or invoice via Square.

  • The Haul Pass (monthly membership) is billed in advance on a recurring basis.

4. 📅 Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours in advance at no cost.

  • Same-day cancellations are subject to a $25 cancellation fee.

  • No-shows or missed appointments without notice may result in a $50 rebooking fee.

5. 🛻 Pickup Conditions

  • Items must be easily accessible (driveway, garage, porch, curbside).

  • Items should be clearly marked and ready for pickup.

  • We reserve the right to adjust your final quote if the load is significantly larger than described, or if additional labor is required.

6. 🧾 Donation Drop-Offs

  • We deliver donations to local nonprofit organizations (e.g., Unity Shoppe, Alpha Thrift, Habitat ReStore).

  • Acceptance is subject to the charity’s discretion.

  • If a donation is refused, we will offer alternative options (recycling or junk haul fees may apply).

  • Donation receipts can be provided upon request.

7. 🧹 Property Access & Liability

  • By booking a service, you authorize The Good Haul to access the necessary property areas to retrieve designated items.

  • We are fully insured and take great care to avoid damage. However, we are not liable for:

    • Pre-existing property damage

    • Items left unsecured or unstable

    • Damage to items deemed unsafe to move (e.g. structurally compromised)

8. 🔁 The Haul Pass – Monthly Membership

  • Includes 2 pickups per month (cardboard, donation, or light junk)

  • Light porch or garage sweep included

  • Unused pickups do not roll over to the following month

  • Members receive priority scheduling and discounted rates on additional services

  • Cancel anytime — no contract or hidden fees

9. ⚖️ Right to Refuse Service

The Good Haul reserves the right to decline or cancel service at any time for the following reasons:

  • Unsafe, disrespectful, or aggressive behavior

  • Discovery of prohibited items

  • Conditions beyond our capacity or reasonable scope
